How experienced is the company in public procurement consulting?

Civic Initiatives was founded in 2010 by former government employees passionate about effective public sector operations. Since its founding, Civic Initiatives has supported 100+ client entities in 45+ states. We’ve completed 500+ procurement transformation projects, including for local governments, K–12 districts, higher education institutions, special districts, and nonprofits. Civic is a trusted partner across the public sector, backed by full-time professionals who have “sat in the seats” of the people they serve, with 650+ collective years of experience. With four national Cooperative Contracts: NASPOx2, E&I, and TX Share covering all service areas.

Does the team have experience and qualifications in public procurement?

The Civic procurement consulting company was founded by a Certified Public Procurement Officer, and all lead consultants have extensive certifications and direct experience from prior roles in government acquisition and program management.

Who is your typical client?

We work directly with government entities, typically the procurement officer for a state, city, county, or education client. We do not advise private sector entities on obtaining government contracts - we exclusively serve the "buy side" of public procurement.

Why does public procurement need outside assistance?

Government procurement organizations are under constant pressure to maintain and improve throughput simultaneously. Civic Initiatives is a trusted advisor that helps procurement leaders fill gaps and fix problems.

Can you help make public procurement strategic?

Civic has an extensive understanding of how to elevate the purchasing function to a more robust procurement capacity through a maturity-based review process. Procurement consultancy firms can then help fulfill this plan by managing key strategic projects, such as spend analysis, procurement manuals, competency development, or procurement automation. Do you have cooperative contracts available?

We have multiple cooperative contracts that accelerate time-to-service, including the PASS contract (Procurement Assistance & Support Services) from the National Association of State Procurement Officers via NASPO ValuePoint, and General Consulting Services from E&I Cooperative Services and TX Share. Find out more on our Contracts page.

Do you support procurement chapters and regional events?

We regularly support major and regional public procurement events across the country, including speaking engagements, expo sponsorships, and more. Contact us to discuss your upcoming events.

Do you create original procurement content?

Civic Initiatives is a prolific producer of original procurement content, including articles, podcasts, webinars, interviews, and more. Stay up to date on the latest in our "Public Procurement Change Agents" content digest by signing up here.
