How experienced is the company in public procurement consulting?

Civic Initiatives was founded in 2010 by former government employees with a passion for effective public sector operations. Since its founding, Civic Initiatives has been a leader of over 100 transformation projects in 30+ states, with a consistent and experienced team.

Does the team have experience and qualifications in public procurement?

The company was founded by a Certified Public Procurement Officer, and all lead consultants have extensive certifications and direct experience from prior roles in government acquisition and program management.

Who is your typical client?

We work for government entities directly, typically the procurement officer of a state, city, county, or education client. We do not advise private sector entities on obtaining government contracts - we exclusively serve the "buy side" of public procurement.

Why does public procurement need outside assistance?

Government procurement organizations are under consistent pressure to maintain throughput and improve while doing it. Civic Initiatives is a trusted advisor designed to help procurement leaders fill gaps and fix problems.

Can you help with RFPs from ARPA projects?

We are currently helping multiple entities absorb the extra work demands to fulfill ARPA and IIJA projects on time and to federal expectations found in 2 CFR 200. We can lead one project or a whole portfolio depending on the client need.

Can you help make public procurement strategic?

We have an extensive understanding of how to elevate the purchasing function to a more robust procurement capacity through a maturity-based review process. We then can help fulfill this plan with project management of key strategic projects such as spend analysis, procurement manuals, competency development, or procurement automation - view a complete list of our workstreams on the services page to learn more!

Do you have cooperative contracts available?

We have multiple cooperative contracts that accelerate the time to service, including the PASS contract (Procurement of Acquisition Support Services) from the National Association of State Procurement Officers via NASPO ValuePoint, and General Consulting Services from E&I Cooperative Services. Find out more on our contracts page.

Do you support procurement chapters and regional events?

We regularly support major and regional public procurement events throughout the country, including speaking, expo sponsorships and more. Contact us to discuss your upcoming events.
